Grading
As many of you have noticed from powerschool, I have been grading classwork and homework. You will see from my classwork and homework rubric that grades greatly reflect effort in working towards our goals and the development of good work habits. Middle school is a time when many students develop the learning habits that they will use throughout their school career. Students will be assessed in areas such as clearly showing their mathematical thinking in a neat and organized manner. Such habits benefit student learning in math. Students will also be assessed on their effort and perseverance in working towards daily and weekly goals linked to the Common Core state standards in math. Students who use the time provided each day in class to work towards these goals will show growth. This growth will be reflected in the letter grades on their report cards. In addition, you will see how your student is progressing mathematically using standards.
